Geek Music is an independent music label and production company specialising in high-quality recordings inspired by film, television, gaming, anime and popular culture. We work with a worldwide team of arrangers, musicians, vocalists and producers to create cover versions, reimagined favourites and original music across a wide range of styles.

Yes. We are always happy to receive suggestions for new tracks. While we cannot guarantee that every request will be recorded, all suggestions are considered as part of our release planning.

Synchronisation – film, television, advertising and online video

If you would like to synchronise a Geek Music recording with visual content, please contact us with details of the track and production.

Include the type of production, the length of music required, how the track will be used, the intended release platforms, territories, licence period and estimated audience or advertising spend where applicable.

Geek Music may be able to license the recording itself. If the track is a cover version, you may also need separate permission from the publisher or copyright owner of the underlying composition.

Weddings, events and public performances

Our music can be played at weddings and other events through an authorised music service or legally purchased copy. However, the venue or event organiser may need the appropriate public-performance licences, such as those administered in the UK by PPL PRS.

If you want to use a Geek Music recording in a wedding video, promotional film, livestream or another piece of visual content, this is a synchronisation use and separate permission may be required.

No. Geek Music recordings are protected by copyright and are not automatically royalty-free.

Yes. You may listen to Geek Music through authorised streaming and download services, but you cannot automatically use our recordings in videos, films, podcasts, advertisements, games, apps, live productions or other projects.

You must obtain the appropriate permission before copying, editing, synchronising, distributing or commercially using a Geek Music recording.

No. Buying, downloading or streaming a track gives you access for personal listening. It does not give you permission to synchronise the recording with a video or use it in another production.

No. You may not re-upload, redistribute or deliver Geek Music recordings to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music or another platform as your own content.

This includes uploading complete tracks, lyric videos, visualisers, compilations, extended versions, slowed or sped-up versions and other altered copies without written permission.

Possibly, but you must obtain permission first. Monetised videos, branded content, sponsored posts, business channels and revenue-generating projects are commercial uses.

Please provide details of the track, content, platforms, audience and monetisation arrangements so that we can assess the request and provide a quotation where appropriate.

It may. Platforms such as YouTube use automated copyright-identification systems that can recognise protected recordings. A claim may therefore be generated when a Geek Music track appears in uploaded content.

Receiving permission from Geek Music does not necessarily prevent an automated claim from appearing immediately. If your licence covers the use, we can review the claim and advise you on the next step.

A copyright claim is not always the same as a copyright strike, although unauthorised use may lead to further action.

We will check whether the use falls within the terms of your licence. Please do not submit false disputes or state that you own the music or composition.

If the claim relates to the underlying composition rather than the Geek Music recording, you may need to contact the relevant publisher or rights administrator separately.

Not necessarily. A recorded song normally contains two separate sets of rights:

  • Rights in the particular sound recording
  • Rights in the underlying composition and lyrics

Geek Music may be able to license the recording that we produced and own or control. However, many of our releases are cover versions, meaning the underlying composition belongs to third-party songwriters or music publishers.

Unless confirmed otherwise in writing, a Geek Music licence should not be assumed to include publishing or composition rights.

Do I need additional permission from the original songwriter or publisher?

Not without written permission. Editing a Geek Music recording into a remix, sampling part of it, extracting vocals or instruments, or using it to create a new recording requires prior approval.

Permission relating to the Geek Music recording does not automatically include permission to alter or adapt the underlying composition. Additional publisher approval may also be required.

Only when this right is specifically included in your agreement.

A licence to use music within a film, programme, game or video does not automatically allow you to release the recording separately on a soundtrack album, compilation or streaming service.

Please tell us at the enquiry stage if a separate soundtrack or commercial audio release is planned.

A licence is normally granted to the individual, production or company named in the agreement. It cannot automatically be transferred, resold, sublicensed or extended to another project.
